Anavar Dosage Calculator
Quick answer: A 40 mg daily dose split into 2 from 10 mg tablets is 2 tablet(s) per dose. Tablets = (daily mg ÷ doses) ÷ mg per tablet.
Oral, non-esterified — every mg is active drug; the calculator converts dose → tablets. Aromatizes: No. Liver-strain (17α-alkylated): Yes. Half-life: ≈ 9.4–10.4 h (≈ 13 h in older adults).
About this calculator
Anavar (oxandrolone) is an oral, non-esterified anabolic steroid, so 100% of each milligram is active compound — there is no ester to subtract. This calculator converts a daily dose into tablets per dose from your tablet strength, and shows the half-life timing that governs how the dose is usually split through the day.
Oxandrolone is a comparatively mild oral steroid often chosen for its low androgenic profile and modest water retention. Because it is non-esterified, the only conversion the calculator needs is dose-to-tablets — there is no ester weight to account for.
How the tablet maths works
There is no ester to subtract: a 20 mg dose is 20 mg of oxandrolone. The calculator simply divides your daily dose by your tablet strength and by the number of times you split it, so half-tablet results mean a tablet would need splitting.
How to use this calculator
Enter your daily dose, your tablet strength (mg per tablet), and how many times a day you split the dose. The result updates instantly with tablets per dose and the per-dose milligrams.
Worked examples
Daily dose: 40 mg · Tablet: 10 mg · Doses/day: 2
20 mg/dose → 20 ÷ 10 = 2 tablet(s) per dose
Daily dose: 50 mg · Tablet: 25 mg · Doses/day: 2
25 mg/dose → 25 ÷ 25 = 1 tablet(s) per dose
Anavar dose chart
Common doses at 10 mg tablets, split twice daily (each row is the calculator’s arithmetic worked out):
| Daily dose | Tablet | Doses/day | Tablets/dose |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 0.25 |
| 10 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 0.5 |
| 20 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 1 |
| 30 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 1.5 |
| 40 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 2 |
| 50 mg | 10 mg | 2 | 2.5 |
Half-life & clearance
Illustrative single-dose elimination by half-life (t½ ≈ 0.41 days). Each marker is one half-life; after ~5 the dose is essentially cleared.
With a ~9–10 hour half-life, oxandrolone clears within roughly two days and is commonly divided into two daily doses to keep levels steadier. It is the only compound in this set with a clean peer-reviewed human half-life (Karim 1973), measured with a radiolabelled tracer.
How to interpret your result
The result is the number of tablets to take per dose. Fractions mean a tablet would need splitting — round to what your tablet strength allows. The half-life figure is a pharmacokinetic timing reference only.
Aromatization, liver & monitoring
Oxandrolone does not aromatize, so it carries little estrogenic activity. It is 17α-alkylated, however, so it passes through the liver intact and can shift liver enzymes and cholesterol — bloodwork is not optional, even on a "mild" oral.
Common mistakes
A frequent mistake is assuming "mild" means "no monitoring needed". Oxandrolone still suppresses natural testosterone and worsens the cholesterol ratio; the tablet maths is simple but the monitoring is not.
Anavar at a glance
| Property | Anavar |
|---|---|
| Form | Oral |
| Active fraction | 1.00 (no ester) |
| Half-life | ≈ 9.4–10.4 h (≈ 13 h in older adults) — Karim 1973, a peer-reviewed radiolabelled PK study |
| Aromatizes | No — already 5α-reduced, not an aromatase substrate. |
| Liver (17α-alkylated) | Yes — 17α-methylated, so it passes through and stresses the liver. |
| Approx. detection | ~12–18 days (longer via 18-nor markers). |

How this is calculated
For injectables the calculator divides your weekly dose by the number of injections, then by the vial concentration, to get the mL per shot — and multiplies by 100 for U-100 syringe units (1 mL = 100 units). The active-hormone milligrams are the dose multiplied by the esterFactor (the parent hormone’s molecular weight divided by the full ester’s molecular weight, both from PubChem). For orals it divides the daily dose by your doses-per-day and tablet strength to get tablets per dose. Half-life timing uses ke = ln2 ÷ t½ and the ~5-half-life rule of thumb for steady state and clearance. It is arithmetic only — nothing you enter is stored or sent anywhere, and the result is not medical advice or an endorsement of anabolic steroid use.
